The Corolla is one of the cheapest car on the market today and despite that, it still offers a lot of nice features which are great to have in any car. The 2016 Toyota Corolla is set to be the mid-life update of the car originally released as a 2013 model. This update is set to include quite a few changes inside the cabin, a completely new trim level which is going to be the new top of the line model as well as slight changes to its engines. Unfortunately though, the 2016 model will not get any changes to its running gear which is a bit of a shame.
Why? Well, because the Corolla never managed to impress with its handling abilities and the current model is just as bland. You would think that such a cheap car does not need to handle well but there are even cheaper cars out there such as the Focus or even the Jetta which handle terrific for their price. However, the Corolla offers a slightly better package and its exterior design is a bit more inspired in our opinion.
2016 Toyota Corolla Price And Release date
The new 2016 model is set to debut some time later this year and it should be ready for the market by the end of 2015. The price will not change all that much meaning that the cheapest model of the bunch will still cost less than $18,000 while the top of the line models will not cost more than $25,000 which is already the upper limit of its class.
Engine
Engine wise, the 2016 Toyota Corolla will continue to offer a 1.8 liter naturally aspirated inline 4 as its only choice. However, just like before, the engine will be available in two different tune levels. The 132 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque model will be available on the base version as well as on the S and S+ sporty models while the 140 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque model will only come on the Eco model which will also get a revised gearbox. Front wheel drive will be the only choice and the more powerful version of the car will be able to hit 40 MPG on the highway which is quite impressive. The new S+ trim level will unfortunately come with the less powerful engine but there are rumors that Toyota will finally improve the CVT gearbox so it will offer slightly more feedback and smoother gear changes which were quite problematic on the current S model.
Exterior of New Corolla
The exterior will not remain unchanged either and the new 2016 Toyota Corolla is set to be one of the best looking cheap cars on the market. The base model will carry over pretty much unchanged but the S, S+ as well as the Eco models will all receive all new wheel designs, new tires that are said to be both quieter and more economical as well as a new design for the front end. The S+ model will add besides these three new color options, all black 17 inch rims as standard as well as a new chrome tip for the exhaust system. Some rumors also suggested that the 2016 Toyota Corolla will get a new set of LED tail lights for the top end version of the car.

2016 Toyota Corolla Interior
Inside the cabin, the 2016 Toyota Corolla will be quite nicely equipped despite its small starting price. Air conditioning, RDS radio and even electric windows are all going to be standard. The S+ model will offer the only changes here though because it will get a new upholstery with red stitching as well as new red accents on the dashboard and steering wheel which are meant to set it apart from the rest.
